Welcome to the UCONN League

The object of the UConn League is to promote social and friendly relations within, and to provide worthwhile services to the University and community.

The UConn League charges a nominal fee for membership. Anyone who is part of the UConn community or lives in the surrounding towns is welcome to join.

Members are then eligible to participate in any of the interest groups.  There are two lunch meetings with a speaker per year for UConn League members: one in the Fall and one in the Spring. A membership directory is issued in the Fall so please fill out membership-form (PDF file which requires adobe reader. )

The Spring 2020 Notebook is being sent (post or email) to Members of the UConn League.

President’s Message

Dear Fellow Members,

I don’t know how to start this message.  I don’t need to tell you how this Covid-19 pandemic has upset our lives or that it is upsetting our UCONN League interest groups.  Even though most activities are on hold, it hasn’t stopped our members from reaching out to each other.  That is a testament to what a great caring group of individuals that we are.  I sincerely hope and pray that no member or loved ones have suffered by contacting this disease.

We are going to be flexible in resuming all our activities.  It will be up to the individual groups on how they will restart.  Please keep in touch with the group leader for updates.

Our newcomers’ coffee has been changed to a newcomers’ ZOOM get-together.  The Board has also decided that we will not hold the Fall Luncheon this year.  There are too many uncertainties and many of you are still not venturing out.  The directories will be mailed out to you.

In this Notebook are proposed By-laws changes.  They mostly clarify the description of the nominating committee.  When returning your membership form, please indicate your vote of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on approving these changes.

This brings me to membership.  Please, please send in your membership for the year. Even if you may not partake of any activities for the whole year, we depend on your dues and donations to fund the two scholarships and charitable gifts to local organizations.  More than ever these funds are needed at this time.

Enjoy what is left of the summer and the cooler refreshing air of the fall.  Hopefully, several vaccines will be successful and available soon, and hopefully we can meet in person soon.
