Welcome to the UCONN League

The object of the UConn League is to promote social and friendly relations within, and to provide worthwhile services to the University and community.

The UConn League charges a nominal fee for membership. Anyone who is part of the UConn community or lives in the surrounding towns is welcome to join.

Members are then eligible to participate in any of the interest groups.  There are two lunch meetings with a speaker per year for UConn League members: one in the Fall and one in the Spring. A membership directory is issued in the Fall so please fill out membership-form (PDF file which requires adobe reader. ) or contact us

The Fall Notebook is being sent (post or email) to Members of the UConn League.

Daytrippers 9/15/2021

The Daytrippers’ group is back!  We are planning to start our first on September 15 with an outdoor trip to Megigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset Beach for a program covering 3 ecosystems.  Watch for the announcement to sign up next month as well as a tentative schedule and description of safeguards to prevent Covid.  Our group decides where to travel and leaders are chosen for each trip.  The group meets at a designated parking lot and each car has up to four occupants, one of whom is the navigator.  Lunch at a preset restaurant follows.  New members are welcome.  We have a good time and it is fun to meet new people.  For information call the group’s organizers, Ann Lojzim, Margaret Festi, or Dotti Hajek.

President’s Message

I am looking forward to my first term as President of the UCONN League as it will give me a chance to work more closely with a fabulous group of women who have served over the years. I have already seen how willing people are to take on new roles and to ensure the legacy of the League. Despite the challenging times we are experiencing, many of our Interest Groups are carefully carrying out their work and coming back with appropriate safety guidelines in place. I’ve experienced first-hand the joy of re-uniting with each other and look forward to new activities in the year ahead.

We gathered for the first time indoors at Villa Louisa for our Spring Luncheon and 58 members and guests enjoyed each other’s company. We have another exciting program planned for our October 25, 2021 general membership meeting/luncheon. Joanie Di Martino, Curator of the Prudence Crandall Museum will be our guest speaker. We’re hoping more people will be willing to come out and bring a friend. We need to introduce as many people as possible to the UConn League at work and at play!

We were able to distribute monies to more local organizations this year thanks to the generosity of our members. We currently have twelve (12) Interest Groups that operate during the year providing opportunities to take care of our bodies and our minds. Some are pure fun and others challenge us to be the best we can be. If you haven’t joined an Interest Group recently, why not give something new a try?

I want to thank our hardworking Board of Directors for their time and energy and hope that some of you will consider stepping up when vacancies occur. Thank you for your support.
